Caps #ALSIceBucketChallenge

August 12, 2014

Caps forward Evgeny Kuznetsov and defensman John Carlson joined in the viral campaign to raise awareness of ALS or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Kuznetsov was the first to kick things off for the Caps:

Kuznetsov nominated Alex Ovechkin to follow his act, so Ovi is on the clock.

John Carlson was next to step up to the plate:

Carlson called on Karl Alzner, Eric Fehr and Steve Oleksy to join the challenge.

And Alzie answered.

And Eric Fehr was not to be outdone.

Ollie Kolzig answered the challenge and offered one of his own:

Alum Brendan Witt proves he's not one to back down from a challenge.

Always up for some ice time, the Caps captain stepped up, too.

And word on the tweets is the boss is also game.

Caps In-Game Host Erin Magee nominated the entire 2014-15 Red Rockers squad and all Caps fans before taking the challenge herself:

Caps alum and CSN Washington host Craig Laughlin took the challenge to a whole new level:

Aaron Volpatti accepted his challenge from Karl Alzner and he extended the challenge to Joel Ward and Jason Chimera:

Meanwhile Slapshot accepted the challenge and nomniated Mike Vogel, John Walton and Elliot Segal:

Elliot Segal made sure to donate to the cause before he accepted Slapshot's challenge:

The Caps Red Rockers took on the challenge in style:

Caps radio host John Walton also had help from Slapshot when he accepted the challenge:

Please join Capitals head coach Barry Trotz and Comcast SportsNet’s Capitals play-by-play announcer Joe Beninati in donating at and help us create a world without ALS! #ICEBUCKETCHALLENGE
